Liquid Chromatography-tandem Mass Spectrometry
Liquid Chromatography-tandem Mass Spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) is a powerful technique used for the quantitative and qualitative analysis of a wide range of compounds. It combines two analytical separation techniques, Liquid Chromatography and Mass Spectrometry, to provide higher sensitivity and specificity by effectively separating and identifying even low concentrations of analytes. LC-MS/MS is used to identify unknown compounds and to detect specific biomarkers in biological samples, such as proteins, phospholipids, and metabolites. In addition, it is used in drug metabolism and pharmacokinetics, metabolomics, and small-molecule therapeutic drug development. LC-MS/MS has become an indispensable tool for scientists and is used to elucidate complex biochemical pathways.
