Vitiligo Surgery
Vitiligo surgery is a medical procedure used to restore the color of the skin in people with depigmentation caused by vitiligo, an autoimmune condition in which melanocytes, the specialized skin cells responsible for producing melanin (skin pigment) are destroyed. The goal of vitiligo surgery is to restore a natural-looking skin tone and improve the affected person’s appearance. The procedure is usually done using an advanced form of skin grafting, typically a combination of autologous (self) and allogeneic (donated) skin grafts. The procedure can also be used for areas of the body where vitiligo has caused significant loss of pigmentation. Vitiligo surgery is a safe and effective method of restoring skin tone in vitiligo patients and can help improve the aesthetic outcome and quality of life for those affected by the condition.
