Tropical Dermatology

Tropical Dermatology is an important subspecialty of Dermatology devoted to the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of skin diseases in tropical or subtropical climates. These skin diseases may be caused by environmental factors such as intense heat, humidity, and parasites, or be inherited or infectious. Tropical Dermatology is essential for those living or travelling in tropical or subtropical climates, as it helps in both prevention and treatment of skin diseases. Commonly seen skin diseases in these areas include: fungal and bacterial infections, itching, rashes, hives, scabies, and lice. Special attention is given to early diagnosis and aggressive treatments of these skin diseases as they can have lasting effects on the sufferer. Specialists in this field help patients with the care of their skin, provide advice on preventive methods, and educate the public on skin disease awareness.
