Streptococcal Pharyngitis

Streptococcal Pharyngitis, also known as strep throat, is a bacterial infection of the throat and tonsils caused by Streptococcus pyogenes or Group A Streptococcus (GAS). It is one of the most common bacterial infections in children and adolescents, and is most commonly spread through direct contact with secretions from nasal and throat secretions, or via indirect contact with contaminated surfaces. This infection can cause inflammation of the throat and tonsils, as well as fever and enlarged lymph nodes. Signs and symptoms can be treated with antibiotics to improve patient outcomes. Streptococcal Pharyngitis is an important illness to diagnose and treat appropriately, as it may lead to serious complications such as rheumatic fever, acute glomerulonephritis, and infection of skin and soft tissue. Proper preventive measures, early detection, and prompt treatment with antibiotics can help reduce the risk of complications and improve patient outcomes.
