Somites
Somites are a type of embryonic tissue found in vertebrates, which form early in development and eventually go on to form the body's main organs and muscles. They are important for development and the study of them helps us understand how the body grows and how diseases can occur. Somites are able to give rise to a range of organ systems, including the brains, heart, lungs, and kidneys, as well as the muscles and bones that make up our bodies. They have been studied extensively to better understand the mechanisms behind embryonic development, as well as to better understand diseases of the body and develop new treatments.
