Skin Infections
Skin Infections are a broad term for any type of infection caused by bacteria, viruses, or fungi that affects the skin. Some of the most common skin infections include athlete’s foot, impetigo, ringworm, and jock itch. Skin infections can be caused by coming into contact with a contaminated surface or by coming into contact with an infected person or animal. Common signs of skin infection include redness, swelling, itching, and pain. Treatment options vary depending on the type of infection, but common treatments involve prescription topical medications or oral antibiotics. Skin infections can be prevented through frequent hand washing, not sharing personal items, and avoiding contact with infected individuals or surfaces.
