Melanin

Melanin is a pigment that is found in the skin and hair of many animals, including humans. It is produced by cells called melanocytes and is responsible for giving colour to the skin, hair, and eyes. It is also involved in protecting the skin from ultraviolet radiation from the sun, thereby helping to prevent damage from sunburn and skin cancer. Melanin is important for healthy skin and can be used for skin health products such as sunscreens and cosmetics. Additionally, it is being studied for potential medical applications such as being a potential agent for treating various skin diseases.
