Mechanoreceptors

Mechanoreceptors are sensory cells located in the skin and other organs that sense pressure, touch and vibration. They are important for interpreting physical stimuli from the environment and relaying them to the brain. Mechanoreceptors play a key role in our ability to feel, sense and interact with the world. They are responsible for the sense of touch, allowing us to interact and respond appropriately to things we touch and feel. They also help us recognize pressure, gravity and acceleration, essential for balance, coordination and posture. Knowledge of mechanoreceptors also finds applications in medical and engineering fields, such as the development of prosthetic limbs and medical devices.
