Lipoma
Lipoma is a slow-growing, benign tumor of fatty tissue. It is the most common type of soft tissue tumor. When located just beneath the skin, a lipoma is soft and rubbery and can be moved with slight pressure. It is typically painless unless it compresses a nerve. Lipomas can occur in any part of the body. The cause of lipoma is unknown but factors such as genetics, age, and obesity may contribute to its development. Treatment for lipomas is generally not necessary as they are benign. However, if the lipoma is painful, growing, or cosmetically unacceptable, it may be surgically removed.
