Keloid
Keloid is a type of scar tissue that is characterized by an overgrowth of collagen fibers that form a raised, itchy, and sometimes painful growth on the skin. They usually occur following surgery, injury, or due to other skin damage such as acne. Although their cause is not fully understood, it is believed that genetics and certain hormones may play a role. Treatment for keloids include steroid injections, silicone sheets, cryotherapy, laser therapy, radiation therapy, and surgery. Surgery removes the keloid and is used to prevent regrowth. However, keloids can recur following treatment and there is no guarantee that the treatment will be successful.
