Dermis

The dermis is the middle layer of the skin, located below the epidermis and above the hypodermis. It is composed of connective tissue, collagen, and elastin fibers, as well as a variety of cells that regulate different functions such as the production of sebum, a natural oil that lubricates and protects the skin. Dermis is an essential component for a healthy skin and provides support and structure to the skin. Additionally, it helps to distribute and absorb sweat, regulate temperature, and ward off bacteria and viruses. The dermis is also a key component for wound healing and skin regeneration. Finally, the dermis provides some structural support and gives the skin its stretch and contour.
