Chromoblastomycosis
Chromoblastomycosis is a skin infection caused by a fungus. It is typically acquired after touching soil or vegetation contaminated with the organisms. Symptoms include the appearance of hard, verrucous, reddish-to-black warty growths on the body. The infection can spread through the lymphatic system if untreated, and may require long-term antifungal medication to cure. It is a rare, but potentially serious, condition that can lead to significant morbidity and disability. It is especially important to identify the condition early, as this may lead to better management outcomes and reduce the likelihood of the infection spreading.
