Traumatic Illness Depression
Traumatic illness depression is a type of mental illness that occurs following the experience of a life-threatening physical or psychological trauma. It is characterized by prolonged feelings of sadness, hopelessness and worthlessness, as well as decreased concentration, appetite and energy. Symptoms may also include intrusive and painful memories of the traumatic event and/or physical symptoms such as headaches and nausea. Traumatic illness depression can have a significant impact on an individual's quality of life, making it difficult to function in everyday life. Treatment for traumatic illness depression often includes a combination of psychotherapy, medication, and lifestyle modifications. Early diagnosis and treatment is essential to preventing long-term suffering from the condition.
