Somatic Complaints

Somatic complaints are physical sensations that cause distress and disruption to a person’s daily life. They can come in many forms, such as headaches, muscle tension, stomach pains, dizziness, chest pain, or difficulty sleeping. Somatic complaints can have a variety of causes, such as psychological distress, medical illnesses, or lifestyle factors. Accurately identifying, diagnosing, and treating somatic complaints is extremely important for improving a person's quality of life. Depending on the underlying cause, treatment may involve psychotherapy or medications. Additionally, healthy lifestyle modifications, such as exercise, proper diet, and adequate sleep can help alleviate somatic complaints.
