Psychiatric Syndromes

Psychiatric syndromes are mental health conditions characterized by a cluster of symptoms and signs that together indicate a specific disorder. Examples of psychiatric syndromes include major depressive disorder, bipolar disorder, and schizophrenia. Psychiatrists use a variety of diagnostic tools and methods to identify, assess, and diagnose psychiatric syndromes. Treatment modalities range from individual psychotherapy, to medications, to more intensive interventions like cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). Syndromes can be extremely disabling, so effective treatment is essential to promote the health, wellness, and quality of life of those living with a disorder.
