Mental Health Substance Abuse
Mental health substance abuse refers to the misuse of drugs, alcohol and other substances to cope with mental health issues such as anxiety, depression, and other psychological issues. It can cause lasting physical and psychological harm, interfere with an individual's ability to function, and lead to addiction, relapse and even overdose. Substance abuse can also be a major factor in exacerbating existing mental illnesses. Effective treatment for mental health substance abuse typically involves therapy, lifestyle changes, and potentially medication. Early recognition and intervention is key to recovering from mental health substance abuse and preventing relapse.
