Gerontophobia

Gerontophobia is the fear of aging or of growing old. It is an irrational fear of the process of aging, or of becoming physically or mentally incapacitated due to age-related changes. It may manifest as a fear of gradually declining health, reduced vitality, and other physical or mental changes associated with aging. People with this phobia may experience anxiety and panic attacks in response to the thought of growing older and may even avoid activities or situations associated with aging. Gerontophobia can have a significant impact on the quality of life of those affected. Through understanding and undergoing treatment for gerontophobia, individuals can learn to cope with their fear and improve their mental health.
