Depressed Mood

Depressed mood is a state of feeling sad, discouraged, or lacking in hope and enthusiasm. It can range from mild to severe, and is often accompanied by a disturbance in thinking, sleeping, and eating habits. Depressed mood is a major symptom of many mental health conditions, and is associated with decreased quality of life and increased risk of mortality and morbidity. Treatment for depression often includes psychotherapy, lifestyle changes, and medications such as antidepressants. Analyzing the causes, managing symptoms, and improving mental health can help people with depressed mood address their condition, prevent relapses, and lead a better quality of life.
