Tanatology

Tanatology is the scientific study of death, dying, and bereavement. It plays a vital role in understanding the psychological effects of death on individuals, families, and communities. Tanatology involves the study of how death is perceived by those affected and how people cope with the loss of loved ones. It also emphasizes the importance of life review and end-of-life planning. Tanatology is key to supporting those who experience grief, as it helps to provide activities and rituals to aid the bereaved in dealing with their loss. Tanatology is increasingly being incorporated into health care, mental health counseling, and social services to support individuals and families as they come to terms with mortality.
