Suicide Postvention

Suicide postvention is a set of strategies and interventions to help people who are in crisis, those who have experienced a suicide, and the community in the aftermath of a suicide. It includes support of those bereaved by suicide, prevention efforts targeting those at risk of suicide, and strategies to support communities and reduce stigma. Suicide postvention is a powerful tool to help individuals and communities cope with the shock and trauma following a suicide and build resilience to mitigate future risk. It can also reduce the chances of contagion by preventing people connected to the deceased person from engaging in suicide.
