Homicide
Homicide is the intentional killing of one person by another, and is typically classified as either voluntary or involuntary. Involuntary homicide usually occurs when a person causes the death of another person due to recklessness or negligence, or when the death is caused by a criminally unlawful act. Voluntary homicide usually occurs with intent, and can range from manslaughter or self-defense to premeditated murder. Homicide is an important topic of study as it is a major contributor to global mortality and morbidity, affecting all populations in every nation, regardless of economic or socio-cultural status, and can have huge implications in terms of health, justice and social stability. As such, it is important to understand and analyze the causes, consequences and prevention of homicide in order to reduce this global threat.
