Death Anxiety
Death anxiety is the fear of one's own mortality and the uncertainty of what happens after death. It is a normal response to life's existential questions. Death anxiety can be a source of motivation to live life to its fullest or can lead to a fear of mortality and an inability to cope with life. It can lead to symptoms including depression, rumination, avoidance of attachment, and a heightened sensitivity to physical signs of mortality. Death anxiety also has implications for mental and physical health, including increased risk of mortality and lower quality of life. Treatment for death anxiety can include cognitive-behavioral therapy, exposure therapy, mindfulness therapy, and psychotherapy.
