Antimicrobials
Antimicrobials are substances which can fight against and destroy microorganisms such as bacteria and fungi. They are used to treat bacterial, viral, and fungal infections. They can also be used as a preventative measure, to reduce the chances of microbial growth, or to eliminate existing infections. Antimicrobials play an important role in healthcare, as they can reduce the severity of bacterial and fungal infections, reduce hospital stays due to infection, and improve the survival rates of patients with certain infectious diseases. They can also be used to improve hygiene standards, by preventing the spread of microbial-related illnesses. Antimicrobials have the potential to reduce global mortality and improve quality of life for millions of people.
