Viral Pneumonia
Viral pneumonia is an infection of the lungs caused by a virus. Symptoms of viral pneumonia include fever, coughing, difficulty breathing and chest pain. This type of pneumonia can be more severe than bacterial pneumonia, however, most cases in adults are usually mild. Vaccines are available to protect against some causes of viral pneumonia, such as influenza. Treatment options for viral pneumonia typically include rest and fluids at home, or hospitalization and oxygen therapy for severe cases. Viral pneumonia is an important cause of morbidity and mortality for all age groups worldwide.
