Viral Genome

A viral genome is a set of genetic material that is found in a virus. It is composed of either DNA or RNA, which carries the instructions necessary for the virus to reproduce itself. Viral genomes are important to study because they can help us understand how viruses cause diseases and provide insight into the evolution of various viruses. They can also be used to develop antiviral therapies and vaccines, as well as provide potential targets for drug development. In addition, knowledge of viral genome sequences can be used for diagnosing and tracking the spread of diseases.
