Sendai Virus
Sendai virus is a type of mouse-adapted paramyxovirus, which is a member of the family Paramyxoviridae. It is an enveloped, single-stranded, negative-sense RNA virus. Sendai virus has been found to be useful both as a model organism for studying viral genetics and immunity, as well as having potential applications in gene therapy. Due to its small size, ease of manipulation, and genetic stability, Sendai virus has been used to deliver foreign genes into mammalian cells. Additionally, it has been studied as a potential target for novel antiviral drugs and as a vector for cancer treatments. In summary, Sendai virus is a widely studied model organism with the potential to be used in gene therapy and antiviral drug research.
