Reoviruses
Reoviruses are a type of virus that cause gastrointestinal, respiratory, and other diseases in humans and animals. These viruses are often spread by contact with contaminated food or water, or through respiratory droplets when an infected person sneezes, coughs, or talks. Reoviruses are important to study because they can cause serious illnesses, including gastroenteritis, meningitis, and respiratory infections. In addition, some reoviruses have been studied as potential cancer therapies, due to their ability to selectively attack tumor cells. Research on reoviruses is also important to understand their role in the development of vaccines and treatments for viral diseases.
