Polio

Polio is an infectious disease caused by the poliovirus. It is highly contagious and can cause paralysis and even death in severe cases. Polio mainly affects children under the age of five, and is spread through contact with infected feces, saliva, or nasal secretions. Vaccination is the most effective way to prevent polio and has led to a dramatic reduction in cases since the 1950s. Vaccination campaigns are still conducted in many parts of the world to protect against polio and reduce or eliminate the risk of transmission. It is important to maintain high vaccination rates to ensure that polio does not resurface in the future.
