Orthomyxoviruses

Orthomyxoviruses are a family of viruses that cause respiratory infections in humans and animals. These viruses are associated with a range of illnesses, including influenza and parainfluenza, which are typically characterized by fever, cough, and congestion. Orthomyxoviruses are highly contagious and can spread quickly through droplets from an infected person's cough or sneeze, as well as through contaminated surfaces. They can cause serious complications, including bronchitis, pneumonia, and even death in certain cases. Vaccines are available for certain types of orthomyxoviruses, making them an important area of research for public health professionals.
