Norwalk Virus
Norwalk Virus is a type of virus that can cause severe gastrointestinal illness in humans, characterized by nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. It is one of the most common causes of foodborne illnesses in the world, accounting for an estimated 11-21 million cases annually. It is usually spread through contact with contaminated food, water, or surfaces. Symptoms usually last 1-3 days and most people fully recover without any treatment. However, in some cases, hospitalization may be necessary. Prevention includes thorough handwashing, proper food handling and food preparation, and avoiding contact with contaminated surfaces.
