Mumps

Mumps is a highly contagious viral infection that primarily affects the salivary glands but can also affect other organs. It is spread through contact with saliva and respiratory secretions, making it essential for people in close contact with someone with mumps to be vaccinated or take preventive measures such as frequent handwashing. Mumps is especially dangerous for infants and young children, and complications such as encephalitis and deafness can occur in rare cases. Vaccination is the most effective way to prevent mumps infection, and is commonly included in routine childhood vaccinations. It is important to stress the significance of getting vaccinated to prevent the spread of mumps and to protect people, especially those at risk.
