Meningitis

Meningitis is an acute bacterial or viral infection that affects the meninges, which are the membranous layers surrounding the brain and spinal cord. Symptoms include high fever, headache, stiff neck, confusion, and seizures. Meningitis can be life-threatening if not promptly treated and can cause permanent brain damage and hearing loss. Vaccines are available that can help protect against some types of meningitis. Early diagnosis and treatment are crucial for a good outcome.
