Clinical Virology
Clinical virology is a field of medicine that focuses on the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of infections caused by viruses. It deals with the study of the biology and epidemiology of viruses, and the development of antiviral treatments for their associated diseases. Clinical virology is important for understanding virus transmission, disease pathogenesis, and the development of novel antiviral treatments. Clinical virologists are involved in the diagnosis and management of many infectious diseases, including Influenza, HIV, herpes, hepatitis, and polio. Through their research, clinical virologists help develop novel treatments and vaccines to improve public health, and they help laboratory personnel identify and diagnose viruses in clinical samples.
