Chikungunya

Chikungunya is a mosquito-borne virus that can cause fever, joint pain, headache, and rash in humans. It is primarily spread by two mosquito species: Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus, found in most tropical and subtropical areas of the world. With the current global increase in international travel and climate change, chikungunya is a growing public health concern. This virus can cause severe joint pain that can last for weeks or even months, and there is no vaccine or specific treatment available. Prevention relies on controlling the vector mosquito population and avoiding mosquito bites, such as wearing clothing that covers the skin, using insect repellent, and avoiding standing water where mosquitoes can lay eggs.
