Caudovirales

The Caudovirales, also known as tailed bacteriophages, are viruses that infect bacteria and are considered the most abundant and diverse group of viruses in the world. They are made up of a head, which carries the genetic material, and a tail, which helps them attach to the bacterial cell wall. Caudovirales are important in the study of microbial populations and are used in the development and testing of antibiotics, as well as in biotechnology, bioremediation, and the production of biopesticides. They also play an important role in the cycling of nutrients in the environment.
