Basic Virology

Virology is a branch of science that studies viruses: their structure, function, transmission, evolution, and the interactions between them and their hosts. It is mostly used in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of viral diseases, such as those caused by viruses like HIV or Zika. Virology is also important for studying the development of vaccines, as well as for elucidating the basic mechanisms of virus replication and evolution. Additionally, it is useful in biotechnology, gene therapy, and agriculture.
