Basic Molecular Virology
Molecular virology is a branch of biology that studies the interaction between viruses and the molecules of their hosts. It focuses on the structure, synthesis and mechanism of action of viruses, as well as the molecular basis of their pathogenesis, evolution, and control. It has become an important tool in the understanding of the biology of viruses, their interactions with host cells, and the development of antiviral strategies. Molecular virology has applications in clinical diagnosis, epidemiological studies, molecular diagnosis of viral diseases, and development of new therapies for viral infections. It also has helped in developing of new vaccines for viral diseases. Molecular virology has become an important component of modern medicine, allowing us to understand the molecular basis of viral diseases and develop new strategies to control their spread.
