Baculoviruses

Baculoviruses are a family of virus particles that infect certain insect species. These viruses are of great importance to the agricultural industry, as they are used to control harmful insect populations without the use of pesticides. Baculoviruses are also being studied as possible biocontrol agents that can be used to target insect-borne diseases and pests. In addition, baculoviruses have been used to develop recombinant vaccines and other therapeutic proteins, as well as insect-resistant crops. In recent years, research on the use of baculoviruses has increased due to their potential to replace conventional chemical insecticides and to be used in biological pest control.
