Autoimmune Disease
Autoimmune Disease is a disorder in which the body’s immune system mistakenly attacks and damages healthy tissue in various organs and systems. Common symptoms can include fatigue, joint pain, muscle weakness, rash, and fever. There are a variety of autoimmune disorders, such as Type 1 diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis, psoriasis, Grave’s disease, lupus, and multiple sclerosis. Diagnosing autoimmune disease can be difficult as symptoms can differ from patient to patient, and often blood tests and other tests may be required. Treatment of autoimmune disease generally focuses on managing symptoms and restoring some normalcy to a patient’s life. Treatments can include lifestyle changes, medications, physical therapy, and other therapies such as injections or infusion therapies. The aims of treatment are to reduce inflammation and damage caused by the immune system and to prevent further damage. Early detection of autoimmune diseases is important as it can help to reduce the severity of symptoms and improve quality of life.
