Arteriviruses

Arteriviruses are a group of viruses that infect mammals and birds. They are members of the family Arteriviridae, which is the only family of viruses in the order Nidovirales. Arteriviruses are responsible for several important diseases of animals, including porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome, equine arteritis, and porcine circovirus type 2. Arteriviruses have been studied as potential tools for developing vaccines and gene therapy agents. They can also be used to study important aspects of mammalian and avian biology, including the immune system and development. Understanding these viruses is important for controlling animal diseases and improving animal health.
