Myofascial Pain
Syndrome Myofascial Pain Syndrome (MPS) is a chronic pain disorder characterized by pain and tenderness in the muscles, often accompanied by trigger points, knots of tight muscle fibers that may cause localized tenderness or referred pain in other parts of the body. The cause of MPS is unclear, but factors such as physical or emotional stress, injury, and posture can play a role. Treatment for MPS focuses on relieving muscle pain, reducing tenderness, and improving range of motion. This may include stretching and strengthening exercises, massage, physical therapy, and relaxation techniques. MPS is a common disorder that can be managed with a variety of treatments to improve quality of life.
