Myasthenia Gravis
Myasthenia gravis is a chronic autoimmune disorder that causes muscle weakness and fatigue. It occurs when the immune system mistakenly targets and attacks the receptors that communicate between nerve cells and muscle cells, leading to weakness and fatigue in the muscles. Symptoms can range from mild, such as difficulty talking or walking, to severe, such as difficulty breathing and swallowing. Treatment can include medications and surgery, and in some cases, a patient may even go into remission. Myasthenia gravis is an important disease to be aware of and can have a significant impact on quality of life; early diagnosis and treatment are key to managing it and leading a healthy, active life.
