Multiple Sclerosis
Multiple sclerosis (MS) is an autoimmune disorder that affects the central nervous system, causing a range of disabling symptoms such as muscle weakness, visual impairment, and cognitive and emotional changes. MS is one of the most common neurological conditions in adults, affecting an estimated 2.3 million people globally. It has both physical and psychological effects, and is associated with an increased risk of death, disability, and poorer life quality. Treatment for MS may include physical, occupational, and speech therapy, as well as medications that can slow the disease progression. The goal of MS treatment is to reduce the impact of MS-related symptoms, improve quality of life, and enable the patient to maintain personal independence.
