Epilepsy

Epilepsy is a neurological disorder characterized by recurrent seizures that may be caused by abnormalities in the electrical activity of the brain. It is one of the most common neurological conditions, affecting approximately 1% of the population. The severity of seizures can vary from mild to severe and treatment may include medications, surgery, or lifestyle changes. Epilepsy can have a serious impact on quality of life and can lead to psychiatric problems, social stigmatization, and increased risk for accidental injury or death. Early diagnosis and appropriate treatment can help reduce the symptoms of epilepsy and improve quality of life.
