Epidemiology

Epidemiology is the study of the patterns and causes of health and disease conditions in defined populations. It is the cornerstone of public health, and shapes policy decisions and evidence-based practice by identifying risk factors for disease and targeted health interventions. Epidemiological data are used to plan and evaluate strategies to prevent disease, limit transmission, and to inform and evaluate strategies to improve health and medical care.
