Coronary Artery Disease
Coronary artery disease (CAD) is a type of heart disease, which is caused by the narrowing of the coronary arteries due to the buildup of plaque in the arteries. This buildup restricts the flow of oxygen-rich blood to the heart muscle, which can lead to chest pain, heart attack, and other heart-related conditions. CAD is the leading cause of death among adults in the United States and other countries. Treatment for CAD typically involves lifestyle changes such as diet and exercise, as well as medications and other interventions. Early detection and treatment of CAD can reduce the risk of long-term complications and improve overall heart health.
