Tomato Spotted Wilt Virus
Tomato Spotted Wilt Virus (TSWV) is a devastating disease that affects a wide range of tomato, pepper, and other crops worldwide. It is a viral disease caused by a virus in the genus Tospovirus, which is spread by thrips. TSWV is characterized by the presence of yellow, brown, and black spots on the leaves, stems, and fruits of plants infected. In addition, stunting and wilt of the infected plants is also common. TSWV can have a significant impact on crop yields, and therefore must be managed effectively to avoid economic losses. Various management strategies are available, including cultural, chemical, and biological control methods. Additionally, resistant varieties of tomatoes and peppers can be used to reduce the risk of TSWV.
