Plant Phylogenetics
Plant phylogenetics is the study of the evolutionary relationships between different species of plants. By studying the evolutionary history of plants, we can gain insight into their biology, learn how species are adapted to their environment, and understand how they are related to each other. This information can be used to inform conservation efforts, crop breeding programs, and drug development. Plant phylogenetics is becoming increasingly important as the world's food supply continues to be threatened by climate change, pests and diseases. With an increased understanding of the evolutionary history of plants, researchers will be able to better identify and protect threatened species, develop new and improved crop varieties, and create medicinal compounds from plant sources.
