Megacolon

Megacolon, also known as megarectum, is a condition characterized by abnormal enlargement of the colon, leading to constipation and other gastrointestinal disturbances. The exact cause of megacolon is usually unknown, however, it is believed to be due to either nerve damage, inherited genetic disorders, or certain medications. Treatment for megacolon includes dietary changes, increased physical activity, and medications. These treatments may be used alone or in combination to relieve constipation and other symptoms associated with megacolon. In severe cases, surgery may be required to treat the condition. Megacolon can lead to serious complications, such as intestinal blockage, dehydration, and electrolyte imbalance, so it is important that any individual with symptoms of megacolon seek medical attention.

Colorectal cancer is cancer that starts in the colon or rectum. The colon and the rectum are parts of the large intestine, which is the lower part of the body's digestive system. During digestion, food moves through the stomach and small intestine into the colon. The colon absorbs water and nutrients from the food and stores waste matter (stool).
