Toddlers

' comprehension of false belief Toddlers' comprehension of false belief is an important area of research in developmental psychology, focusing on how children acquire the understanding that others may hold false beliefs. This understanding is seen as a crucial step in the development of social competence, as it implies the ability to recognize and arbitrate between different perspectives. As such, research into false belief comprehension has been used to study the emergence of Theory of Mind (ToM) in young children, as well as to investigate the notion of mindblindness in individuals with autism. Furthermore, research into false belief comprehension has practical implications for the teaching of social skills in the early years.
